On Wednesday 25th September during lunch time we will be hosting our trails for the SWF football team, who will this year be taking part in the newly formed Sheppey and Sittingbourne Football Trophy. The trails are open to any pupil in years 5 and 6. The best 15 players across the federation will be selected to be part of the team.
Rose Street Go Running!
On Wednesday 25th September a number of our year 3, 5 and 6 pupils took part in the Sheppey and Sittingbourne Cross Country competition. On a day where the weather and the track was very difficult all our children did amazingly and all managed to complete the course which is an achievement in itself considering the course is over a mile and a half in distance! Our highest finish of the day was 17th in the year 6 girls race. All our children did brilliantly and did our school proud as they always do. Up next for Rose Street is the football competition.
Rose Street Battle Hard at Sheppey and Sittingbourne Football Competition!
We had two football teams take part in the Sheppey and Sittingbourne football competition last week and both of them did brilliantly. This was a closely thought contest with some brilliant football on display. Each game was played in the right manner and they was all very competitive. In the end we finished 15th overall which considering the standard of football on display is a fantastic achievement. Well done to all our children who took part and to all the other schools as well. A fantastic competition all round.
SWF Football Team Cup Run Ready to Kick Off!
This year the PE Team are pleased to announce that we will be continuing our SWF football team. The team is made up of the best 20 players across the federation in years 5 and 6. Trails were held at both schools so that everybody had a fair chance of making the team and then the PE team picked the team based on what they saw. The team can change through-out the year due to behaviour, commitment etc. Naturally we understand there will be some disappointed children for not making the team however there are still plenty of opportunities to represent the school this year and congratulations to the children who made it. Out of these 20 children only 10 are allowed to be named in the match squad so the battle for places starts now!
This year the league is being run differently to previous years. There are now four groups made up of 5 (and one group of 4) teams. Each term every school will play a different school from their group. Once all the games have been played the top two team from every group will progress to a knock-out phase while the others will go into another small league to play friendlies against each other. This means that every school who is entered will play a minimum of four competitive games against other schools.
This year our SWF team was draw in Group B, which see us face, St Georges, St Peters, Milton Court and Lansdowne. We are looking forward to the competition getting underway and can’t wait to see how we get on! Good luck to all the schools taking part, and keep your eyes our for our first fixture next term!
