Rose Street EYFS

Our EYFS at Rose Street consists of a Nursery (Ducklings) and 2 Form Reception unit (Puffin and Parrot). Each of our reception classrooms have approximately 30 children, and our nursery provides morning, afternoon and all day sessions, with spaces for up to 26 pupils in each.

Staff Members

Ducklings Nursery: Mrs N Page (EYFS Lead)

Parrot: Mrs S Moon

Puffin: Miss C Johnson-Deane

Our Reception day runs parallel to the rest of the school, beginning at 8.30am, and ending at 3.15pm. The Nursery day is split into 2 sessions; the first is from 8.30am until 11.30am, and the second begins at 12.15pm until 3.15pm. A child with 30 hours provision attends 9.00am until 3.00pm.

A typical day in Early years includes:

  • Early Morning Activities and Register.
  • Little Wandle (Federation Phonics Programme)
  • Whole class input and Teacher Directed Activities (chosen by children).
  • Snack
  • Child Initiated (free flow between classes and outside)
  • Lunch
  • Guided Reading
  • Child Initiated (free flow between classes and outside).
  • Number input, story-time and home.

Our children are heavily involved in our planning, allowing them to take ownership and thus promote a love of learning. They are able to explore in any of our thriving classrooms during child initiated, and our outside area is open all year round.
